Actress Suzanne Somers has passed away a day before her 77th birthday. According to her publicist R. Couri Hay, Somers died peacefully at her home on early Sunday morning.

A statement on behalf of the family read “Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years. Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family. Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly.”

 

Somers was best known for her role as “Chrissy Snow,” the bubbly but ditzy buxom blonde on the iconic television show “Three’s Company” co-starring John Ritter and Joyce Dewitt for the show’s first 5 seasons (1977-1981). After a contract dispute, Somers left the show. In the 1980s, Somers became a pitchwoman for one of the most popular exercise items of the decade, the “Thighmaster.”

In the early 90’s Somers made a return to Network TV, co-starring with Patrick Duffy in the ABC sitcom “Step By Step.” Somers was also a New York Times best-selling author and a beauty and wellness entrepreneur.
