Steven Cerny, with CareerBuilder joins me here today. Steven, thanks for your time. So let’s focus on the industries that are hiring in the areas hit hardest. Where is someone most likely to get a job right now?

STEVEN:

Yeah, the good news is, is that we’re really seeing positive momentum across the board and nearly all US states are showing increases in job listings and across all major industries are seeing gains right now.

BLAIR:

So, which places are hiring the most? -:43

STEVEN: :58

Well according to last week’s data, we’re seeing the top industries hiring including waste management and support, health care and social assistance, as well as retail trade. We’re also seeing an uptick in some of the industries that have been affected a little bit more throughout the downturn, including arts entertainment and recreation. We’re seeing 13% week over week job listing games and those segments across the board, the industries that have been most stable are finance and insurance, as well as technology.

BLAIR:

So which industries, on the flip side, are not hiring as much right now?

STEVEN

But we still need to pick up gains for in hospitality. You know, we’re clearly seeing that that’s been the most effective segment. But as states refine the return to work efforts we do expect to see gains across the board. 1:44

So, bottom line, as we wrap up here Steven, what are the three takeaways for people trying to land a job in one of these industries that is hiring?

STEVEN:

Number one, know your target, do your research ahead of time. Number two, make sure that your resume matches the skills necessary for the opportunity as outlined in the job description. And number three, when you land the interview, make sure that you’ve come prepared with specific examples and measurable results to show how your performance stood out versus the competition.

BLAIR:

It’s such an important time for so many people looking for work. Steven Cerny with CareerBuilder, thanks again for your time.
