Keith Urban to Receive Triple Crown Award at 2025 ACM Awards
Keith Urban will be receiving a major honor at the 2025 ACM Awards on Thursday, May 8. The Australian country singer will receive the academy’s Triple Crown Award, which has only been won by 10 other artists.

To qualify for the award, an artist must win the “New male/Female/Duo or Group of the Year” award, “Male/Female Vocalist/Vocal Duo or Group of the Year” award and the “Entertainer of the Year” award from the ACMs. Urban qualified by winning the “Top New Male Vocalist” in 2001, “Male Vocalist of the Year” in 2005 and 2006 and “Entertainer of the Year” in 2019. He will be the first artist to receive the award during the ACM Awards telecast since Carrie Underwood in 2010. The award is typically given out during the ACM Honors in August.

While Urban is the 11th artist to receive the special award from the ACMs, he is the first non-American country artist to be selected for the honor. Urban finally qualified for the award in 2019 after his “Entertainer of the year” win, which he’d been nominated for and lost eight times previously.
Urban is a rare success story in the country music scene, as the Australian has been one of the genre’s biggest stars throughout the 21st Century. Urban took a leap of faith in 1992 by moving to Nashville permanently, which has since paid off with 20 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Country Airplay charts, and multiple awards for his music. Urban hopes his Triple Crown win gives hope to other international artists to pursue country music:
“In particular, if it inspires some people from other countries who have a dream of coming to America, then that’s a good thing,” Urban said in an interview with Billboard. “It took a lot of years of living in [Nashville] and becoming part of the community. But it’s absolutely achievable if you’re willing to put in the hard work and the time.”
The 60th ACM Awards, hosted by Reba McEntire, streams live on Prime Video at 7 p.m. Thursday, from Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, TX.
